Chief
winemaker Adam Eggins
of Wakefield Wines, in the Clare Valley,
South Australia, has been awarded the Winestate Magazine
Australian Winemaker of the Year for 2006.
The awards, held
in Adelaide, were announced in November and Adam was one
of five leading winemakers up for the prestigious accolade.
A thrilled Adam
Eggins commented:
"I'm absolutely
delighted to have been awarded this title - which is a wonderful
recognition not just for myself, but for the talented team
and resources i have at my disposal. I am fortunate
enough to work with a family who understand passionately
the importance of investment in the right fruit, advanced
machinery, and also of having the best people on your team."
Adam, working alongside
Mitchell Taylor, Managing Director and consultant winemaker,
has been chief winemaker for the family since 2000 and has
enormous impact on where Wakefield's wines sit today - widely
regarded as producing some of the best value and highest
quality wines in Australia.
